Fifty years ago today, Manos: the Hands of Fate made its now-infamous debut at the Capri Theater in El Paso, Texas. The film, which is widely called "the worst movie ever made", was so awful that it prompted laughter from those in attendance. Needless to say, Manos quickly became relegated to the dustbin of history. Or at least it did until it was unearthed by Mystery Science Theater 3000 in 1993. Just as quickly as it fell into obscurity, Manos garnered a devoted cult following and remains a cult classic to this day. In fact, it will spawn a sequel, titled Manos Returns, very soon. The new film stars several of the remaining cast members from the original, including Jackey Neyman Jones ("Debbie"), Diane Adelson ("Margaret") and Tom Neyman ("The Master"), who tragically passed away on Saturday, November 12.
We at Spectrum Games recently announced that we are producing a card game based on the 1966 film called Manos: the Cards of Fate. To celebrate "Manos Day" and the life of Mr. Neyman, we are making the rulebook available for all to read. Manos has decreed it.
